Pittsburgh's Premier Custom Automotive Shop

Bruce Harvey had a passion for art and cars from a young age. In 1988, Bruce founded Pro Comp Custom and took his passion, creativity and precision and began painting, fabricating and restoring vehicles of all types. His award-winning moving art includes cars, trucks, SUVs and motorcycles.

Bruce Harvey and the Pro Comp Custom team have worked on street rods, hot rods, rat rods, resto-mods, customs, exotics, vintage, late model, muscle, classics and everything in between. You will be confident knowing when you take your vehicle to Pro Comp Custom, your vehicle will be in good hands.

Pro Comp Custom offers a variety of services. Whether you are looking to simply change paint color or do a full turn-key restoration, our team has the experience and expertise to deliver the service of your choosing with incredible results.

Complete Restoration

We take exceptional pride and care when restoring your investment-grade beauty. Whether it is a 1960s Ford Mustang or a vintage 1950s Chrysler Imperial, we will restore it using exacting specifications. Our white glove service includes all steps and processes required to restore your car to its original pristine state.

Custom Paint

Life is too short to drive a car with factory paint. With many years of combined experience, our body shop, painter, and paint finisher will leave you with the best paint job around. We can create a custom paint job to be as mild or as wild as you’d like. And rest assured no one, anywhere, will have the same paint as you.

Custom Fabrication

At our state of the art facility, we have the ability to create exactly what you are looking for with your vehicle. From our many chopped and sectioned cars, to the ones with hand made dashboards and exhaust systems, we can virtually do it all.

We can take the stock appearance of your car and replace as many of the moving parts as you desire with modern upgrades (drivetrain, steering, brakes, suspension, etc) Also, we can restore and modify your vehicle to your specifications, so it is better than new in the way it drives and performs, but still retains that factory fresh look of an original car.

Engine Tuning

Engine tuning is an adjustment, modification of the internal combustion engine, or modification to its control unit. It is adjusted to yield optimal performance, to increase an engine's power output and/or durability.

A restomod car has that timeless appearance of the original, but the outdated guts of the car have been replaced with much more modern, high-performance parts available today. You'll achieve the same great look, but your vintage car will be revved up with all the latest bells & whistles to create a much better ride for the owner.

Pro Comp Custom only employs the best. Our team has the experience and expertise to deliver the service of your choosing with incredible results.

Bruce Harvey

Bruce is a genius when it comes to building, painting and restoring cars. He has a one-of-a-kind gift that one rarely sees. Between the custom paint colors, airbrushing, and body fabrication it is no surprise he has won over 100 awards including 12 Best of Show awards and the Darryl Starbird Personal Pick Award. In addition, his cars have been featured in movies, countless magazines, show venue billboards, show tickets and promotional items, and even a few have been displayed at the SEMA show in Las Vegas. Bruce knows it’s a team effort. He collaborates with the Pro Comp team and customers to build a unique car no one has ever seen. Around the shop, Bruce is always hard at work. He doesn’t sit in a cushy office; he’s out working on the shop floor wearing the same work shirt as the rest of the employees. His favorite Pro Comp cars are the 1970 Charger, Willys, Ratical Rod, and the 1964 Corvette (featured in Vette Magazine). When he was 12 he would sketch cars all day with the dream he would have his own custom shop. His dad was instrumental with this dream by having Bruce help him in the garage after school and on weekends. In 1988 Bruce opened Pro Comp Custom and has been living his dream and building cars like no other.

Matt is one of those rare people who uses both his left brain and his right brain. He has been dazzling Pro Comp customers with his artistry and mechanical abilities since 2008. He started his career as an electronics engineer, but his passion was cars. At 14 he began welding and tinkering with cars. Wanting to live the dream, he went back to school where he specialized in street rod and custom fabrication and graduated from WyoTech receiving the coveted Most Distinguished Student Award in his field. He is a true artist doing easel painting and car sketches using pastels and airbrushing. He is a nationally recognized rally race car driver (in his custom built 1994 Honda Civic) with a growing collection of trophies and accolades. In his spare time, you’ll find him at home hanging with his dog or out in the woods on his mountain bike. Also, Matt still owns the car he had in high school, a 1967 Volkswagen Beetle. His favorite Pro Comp car is the Renault Alpine A110 Berlinette with the Porsche 996 twin turbo drivetrain.

Will moved to Pittsburgh from Moses Lake, WA to attend WyoTech, because of the school's top-of-the-line reputation. This speaks volumes of Will’s love of cars, his passion for restoration, and his desire to be the best. At 15 Will bought his grandfather’s ’77 Chevy pickup and once he got his hands on it he knew his destiny was to restore cars. He is well-versed on all aspects of car restoration, from mechanical to custom fabrication. In fact, he can say he built a chassis from scratch — and it is mind blowing! His favorite Pro Comp Custom car is the '66 Chevy Nova Pro Street and he has a long line of diverse personal favorites. His hobbies are mud racing, home improvement projects, and working on cars, but he most loves spending time with his two boys, and his wonderful wife, Kate.

Jimmy is one cool cat. And for so many reasons. He was in the Navy, he’s lived all over the US, he was one of the original six members of the V-Dub Culture car club, he designs and builds dual purpose furniture, he’s an outstanding cook, he could star in his own outdoor adventure show, plus he keeps his mind fresh with reading everything from human behavior to economics. But the reason we value Jimmy is his work ethic, intelligence, and his mad fabrication skills. His favorite Pro Comp built car is the 1949 Mercury and his favorite personal car is an air-cooled VW. When not at the shop, you’ll find Jimmy spending quality time with his two best friends — his beloved dog, Highway and his dad.

Dylan grew up on a big farm with 60 head of cattle and lots of horses. But he wanted more horsepower than the farm offered. How did this farm boy know cars were for him? The day his dad did doughnuts in his ’87 Dodge pickup in the mall parking lot with his little boy in tow. To this day, any circa 80s Dodge truck is Dylan’s favorite ride. When he was 10, he started working with his dad on cars and tractors doing maintenance work until he was old enough to earn his own income helping friends and neighbors with their vehicles. Wanting to advance his skill set, he went to WyoTech and graduated from the collision refinishing program with a specialty in street rod. His first job was with a heavy equipment company as sandblaster and head painter. He carries his strong farm work ethic to Pro Comp as one of our valued body technicians. When Dylan does take time to relax, you will find him airbrushing all sorts of canvases, including model cars. He also enjoys playing retro Nintendo games. His favorite Pro Comp car is Bruce’s 2010 Camaro, because of the creativity involved in fabricating on a new car.

Trevor was the luckiest kid – he spent his spare time hanging out in his grandfather’s shop while he worked on cool old cars. There was one car in particular that became the family project car – a 1937 Ford. His dad inherited this classic and the childhood memories and stories of the shop will always be a part of him. Wanting to serve and honor his country, Trevor spent four years in the Army as an infantryman. His calling was always cars, so he went to Wyotech to further his mechanical, interior, and fabrication expertise. His hobbies are working on cars, hiking, spending time with his family and doting on his daughter. Trevor’s favorite car is a 1967 Shelby GT500 and his favorite Pro Comp car is the ’49 Mercury, because “it is what a street rod is supposed to be”.

When you want unique artistry in your metalwork, look no further than Jesse. We are impressed with his creativity and perfectionistic welding skills. He can create a clean, modern look or an intricate custom pattern depending on the build. Jesse was educated early in the art of metal fabrication, since his dad had his own business of refinishing and selling muscle cars. He furthered his expertise by graduating from Wyotech with concentrations in Street Rod and Collision Refinishing. Jesse’s hobbies are all right-brained (as one would expect) and in addition to drawing, he is a professional tattoo artist. His favorite car is the Datsun 240Z and his favorite Pro Comp car is the ’49 Mercury.

When you visit the shop, you will hear Elliot say that having the opportunity to build someone’s dream car is the world’s greatest job. He’s not kidding – he was on his way to the sunny South, but decided to join our very skilled team. He is mechanically and artistically inclined, so for Elliot building dream cars is second nature. With his background, his career path could go in almost any direction but he believes that “hot rods and customs are where it’s at”, so he attended Wyotech where he had a 4.0 and perfect attendance. His hobbies are cooking (at a chef’s level), riding his Harley, painting/drawing, and playing guitar. His favorite cars are the Nova and ’65 GTO. His favorite Pro Comp cars are the ’57 Imperial and ’49 Mercury.
